An ultra-rare T-shirt of the Beatles, complete with blemishes, has been put on sale on eBay for £12,000.
Despite being more yellow-stained than Yellow Submarine, the piece of clothing could make a nice bit of cash for its owner. It features the controversial cover of the group’s Yesterday And Today album, picturing the Fab Four dressed as butchers and holding meat and dolls.

The cover and promotional material caused outrage when released in 1966 and were pulled from the shelves, to be replaced by an image of the band with a suitcase. Now, the seller – koshercollectibles, from Illinois – has put the piece of clothing containing the original picture on eBay.
‘Rarest rock T-shirt ever?’ he writes in his listing on the auction website, adding he is selling his collection of vintage T-shirts.
‘Ok. I do not know the entire history of this shirt I can tell you that the guy I got this shirt from played in the band Elephant’s Memory and got the shirt himself from Lennon during the early ’70s.
‘I spent a bundle on it, hence the high price. If the original records are scarce, how rare is this piece? Good luck finding another!’
He adds: ‘Condition: great! No rips or holes. Minor wear commensurate with age.’
