Beatles Roadshow to take place at Chester Guildhall

BEATLES fans may be feeling fine after having items valued at an event in Chester.
A Beatles Roadshow takes place at the Guildhall, Watergate Street, on Sunday from 10am-4pm.
Styled on the BBC TV programme Antiques Roadshow, guests are invited to take along memorabilia, autographs, photographs and memories to share with organisers Steve Holmes and Gloria Walmsley. The duo can offer valuations on items and may be interested in buying them.
Beatles maniac Steve has been involved with the Fab Four fairs for almost 30 years and said: “As well as Beatles fans from the 60s we are seeing an upsurge in interest from the youngsters.”
Gloria added: “Schoolchildren are studying the 60s and a new generation is discovering The Beatles all over again. They are national treasures.”
Gloria is interested in hearing people’s personal tales of encounters with John, Paul, George and Ringo.
She added: “At a recent fair this little old lady came in. She’d been such a fan when she was young that she had broken into the boys’ hotel room. She didn’t want to take anything valuable so took the cardboard from inside a new packet of underwear.
“Later she asked them to sign her piece of card and Paul recognised it. ‘Ah,’ he said, ‘so it was you who broke into our room’.
“In the end, she had stuff worth about £10,000.”
According to Gloria, an authentic set of autographs could fetch about £2,000.
As well as valuations and storytelling there will be a large selection of Beatles items to buy, including books, posters, key rings and other memorabilia, along with CDs and music from Central Fayres.
The roadshow is free. For more information, call 07801 564622 or 01902 766773 or email beatles@beatles99.freeserve.co.uk.
