The Lincoln Theater, in conjunction with Beatles Radio, hosts a musical extravaganza celebrating the life and 69th birthday of Paul McCartney on June 18.
The event begins outside the theater with local entertainers, including students from the Napa School of Music, performing at 1 and 3 p.m.
Beatles’ materials, food and beverages will be available.
Inside the theater, all-day festivities feature a musical journey ranging from the FĂȘte and Cavern days (pre-Beatles Lennon & McCartney) to a recreation of the Abbey Road Studios Rooftop performance, the last live performance by the Fab Four.
The program concludes with a tribute to McCartney’s post-Beatles solo work.
The professional tribute performers for Beatles Radio Fest 2011 include The Cryers, The Sun Kings, The Return and Macca.
The party move inside the theater at 2 p.m. with a performance of Lennon & McCartney’s pre-Beatles material by:
• The Cryers, who have toured on their own, and performed with Denny Laine, founder of the Moody Blues and an original member of Wings;
• Terry Sylvester, formerly of The Hollies;
• Ian Mitchell of The Bay City Rollers;
• Jefferson Starship;
• Gary Lewis and the Playboys and The Coasters.
The Sun Kings take the stage at 4 p.m., performing a song from every Beatles’ album and two from “Abbey Road.”
“Beatlemania” continues with The Return performing middle- and late-period Beatles’ repertoire from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The Return perform all the great songs of the original four, and also sport the same suits, boots, mop-tops, musical instruments and gear.
Concluding the event is Macca from The Macca Band UK.
Paul McCartney look-a-like Neil Tudor first heard a member of an audience shout “Macca!” (McCartney’s nickname in the UK and Europe) at a Liverpool gig in 1997, but it took him several years to realize the career potential of having a “McCartney face.”
When he sent a picture of himself to a leading London look-a-like agency he was immediately booked to appear in a television commercial and has subsequently appeared on major UK and European television channels in advertising campaigns. McCartney chose him to work as his “double” on the music video for the hit song “Dance Tonight” in 2007.
