Beatles T-shirt from 1966 for sale on eBay for £12,000

An ultra-rare T-shirt of the Beatles, complete with blemishes, has been put on sale on eBay for £12,000.

Despite being more yellow-stained than Yellow Submarine, the piece of clothing could make a nice bit of cash for its owner.

It features the controversial cover of the group’s Yesterday And Today album, picturing the Fab Four dressed as butchers and holding meat and dolls.

The cover and promotional material caused outrage when released in 1966 and were pulled from the shelves, to be replaced by an image of the band with a suitcase.
Now, the seller – koshercollectibles, from Illinois – has put the piece of clothing containing the original picture on eBay.
‘Rarest rock T-shirt ever?’ he writes in his listing on the auction website, adding he is selling his collection of vintage T-shirts.
‘Ok. I do not know the entire history of this shirt I can tell you that the guy I got this shirt from played in the band Elephant’s Memory and got the shirt himself from Lennon during the early ’70s.
‘I spent a bundle on it, hence the high price. If the original records are scarce, how rare is this piece? Good luck finding another!’
He adds: ‘Condition: great! No rips or holes. Minor wear commensurate with age.’

Rare Paul McCartney Album Set for Release

Paul McCartney’s first non-Beatles work, the soundtrack for the 1966 film The Family Way, will be released for the first time in its original form on CD, according to Examiner.com. The soundtrack was originally released in January 1967 under the name The George Martin Orchestra – though the music was written by McCartney, who also contributed bass, piano and vocals to the recording. Despite the fact that album won an Ivor Novello Award in 1967, it was not released on CD until 1996, and that version was embellished with additional recordings by Canadian guitarist Carl Aubut.
The new disc, released by Varese Sarabande, has been taken from the original mono master tapes and will feature the original running order of McCartney’s 13 untitled compositions, along with one bonus track: a previously unreleased stereo mix of “A Theme from The Family Way,” the b-side of a single by the Tudor Minstrels.
The Family Way will hit stories on July 26.

Iggy Pop Covers The Beatles on New CD

It looks like Iggy Pop fans won’t have a shortage of new material from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer for quite some time. For one, he’s working on a new solo album that will follow-up his jazz-inspired 2009 record, Preliminaries. Pop told Billboard.com that the record will be “mostly ballads” written by other people, including “Michelle” by The Beatles and “Everybody’s Talkin’” by Fred Neil.
He said he’s also working on a new Stooges album with guitarist James Williamson. The songs are “halfway between Raw Power and Kill City,” according to the singer.
“ [We have] about eight things right now that are... sort of complete songs,” he said. “Maybe some of them need to be more complete or some of them need to be forgotten. And then some of them... just flow right along.”
Plus, if you prefer your Iggy live, a new four-CD set of concert bootlegs is set to come out May 19. Shout! Factory will put out Roadkill Rising: The Bootleg Collection 1977-2009, which features live Pop songs, both with the Stooges and solo. Super fans can order directly to receive a bonus CD – the previously unreleased Live in San Francisco: November 27, 1979.
